For over 25 years, the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital has been dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to burn patients and their families.

Through our efforts, we have successfully attracted and retained one of the most experienced burn teams in the Southeast. With our 59-bed unit and admission of more than 2,000 patients annually from throughout the Southeast, we are nationally recognized as a leader in burn research and treatment. We offer professional training programs and promote fire prevention awareness to communities worldwide. Most importantly, we help heal hundreds of lives each year by offering hope to the patients and families we serve.

Mission

With the passing of our founder, Joseph M. Still, Jr., MD, our mission statement has changed to a very simple one — to carry the torch and continue his work. His mission began in 1978 and grew over nearly three decades. It has developed into providing the highest standard of care to all burn patients and not only healing their skin but putting them back into meaningful, productive lives.

Perhaps more than any other area of medicine, burn patients require a highly complex care environment - one in which diverse medical professionals collaborate as a team; new technologies converge with practical applications; patients and their families find solace and support; and prevention education is both a calling and a mission.
