Outlying Clinics
We have partnered with hospitals in outlying areas to bring specialized burn care closer to the patient. Here are a few questions you might have.

Why should physicians refer their patients with burn injuries for specialized treatment?

Advances in burn therapy have allowed us to heal burn injuries especially small burn injuries more quickly with significantly less pain. Second degree burns can be treated with a single application of a bilaminate skin substitute, porcine skin or cadaver skin. Most second degree burns heal within 10 days after application of one of these skin substitutes which do not require dressing changes and virtually eliminates the pain. Third degree burns also heal quickly with a split thickness skin graft.
Who provides treatment?
Expertise of burn and wound treatment will be provided by the medical professionals of Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., in conjunction with the staff at each satellite clinic.

How is follow up care handled?
Patients closer to the outlying clinic will have the opportunity to receive follow up care at the outpatient clinic by the physicians of Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., in conjunction with staff at the outlying clinic.

How quickly will a referred patient be seen at the outpatient center?
All burn referrals will come directly to Dr. Mullins who will assist the referring physician in determining the urgency of the patient injury. Small injuries will be seen at the outlying clinic on the next clinic day.
